Habitat: forest, woodland, savanna.
Diet: frogs, toads, earthworms, small fish, leeches, insects..
ID Features: dark body with lengthwise stripes in yellow/green, small and slender.
Natural History: The Eastern Garter Snake is a small thin snake that typically grows to approximately 3 feet in length. They are often found basking in the sun amongst heavy vegetation. They are one of the most common snakes in Missouri. THEY ARE NOT VENOMOUS!!.
