ID Features: leaves of 3 leaflets, fragrant aroma when crushed; resembles poison ivy but leaflets are joined without petioles to one another.
Natural History: Fragrant sumac is a shrub that has leaves resembling poison ivy but is not poisonous. Its leaves turn a bright orange and red in the fall.
