Missouri Plants Azalea   (Rhododendron sp.) Tracheophyta: Angiosperm: Dicot: Heath (Ericaceae) Native North American Plant Habitat: Moist-soil areas, often along creeks. ID Features: pink flowers. Natural History: Wild azaleas grow throughout Missouri, especially in damp areas along creeks in the Ozarks. Their pink flowers brighten the spring understory of many forests. Cultivated azaleas are commonly sold at nurseries for their bright blooms.
